About Our Programs:
Each month, we offer a variety of developmentally appropriate programming such as story times, parent-child play classes, craft programs, family shows, and more, in both our Dix Hills and our Melville locations.

Please be aware that all of our programs are designed according to the developmental needs of the ages listed for each program, so we appreciate your assistance in only signing your children up for programs that they are age-eligible for, in order to ensure a positive library class for all participants. Children must meet the minimum age or grade listed by the FIRST day a class is offered in order to be eligible for that session.

Waitlists: once a program fills up, you may register and go on that class' waitlist. If a spot opens up in the class you are waitlisted for, you will be notified via phone or email that you have been added to the registered list. If a spot does not open up, you have the option to come to the library at the time of the program and see if we have any spots open up due to no-shows. However, we cannot guarantee admittance to those still on the wait list at the start time of a program. Waitlisted children will be admitted five minutes into the program.

When registering for programs, please note the following:

    • For early childhood and preschool programs, please list your child's name and birth date in the note field when registering online. For school age programs, list their name and grade. We reserve the right to cancel program registrations if this information is not given, to ensure that children are registered for the correct classes.

    • Children must meet the minimum age or grade listed by the FIRST day the class is offered.

    • We will hold your spot for the first five minutes of the start of a class, and will then allow waitlisted patrons access.

    • Craft classes may contain paint and other messy materials. Please dress your child accordingly.
